Project Purpose

Every child deserves the chance to dream, explore, and learn — even when life keeps them within hospital walls.

That’s the heart of The Book Effect, a beautiful initiative by Friends to Mankind (FtoM), an international non-profit organisation dedicated to creating meaningful change across communities.

Through The Book Effect, FtoM aims to collect 10,000 books and build libraries for children in orphanages, hospitals, and refugee schools across the Klang Valley — spaces where imagination and knowledge can open doors to new worlds.

When Nippon Paint learned about this project, we knew we could contribute more than just colour — we could help bring warmth and inspiration to the children who would use these spaces.

In hospitals, where young patients often spend long weeks or months away from school and friends, libraries become windows to possibility. Nippon Paint is sponsoring paint and expertise to transform these spaces into vibrant, welcoming havens — places where children feel excited to visit, read, and attend classes conducted by volunteer teachers.

Because sometimes, a little colour can make a big difference in how a child feels, learns, and dreams.

These libraries are more than shelves filled with books — they are sanctuaries of hope and joy. Here, children can:

Spend their time in meaningful, fun, and creative ways

Learn from volunteer teachers who bring lessons and laughter into their days

Every story read, every class attended, and every wall painted becomes a step toward healing, learning, and happiness.

To ensure the libraries are both beautiful and safe, Nippon Paint uses VirusGuard Paint, a product specially designed for hospital environments. It helps maintain a cleaner, healthier atmosphere while surrounding children with cheerful colours that uplift their spirits.

Together with Friends to Mankind, Nippon Paint is proud to paint a brighter future — one library, one book, and one child at a time.

Qualitative Impact

The newly built libraries have become a welcoming haven within the hospital’s pediatric department — a place where children can spend their time in fun, meaningful, and creative ways during their hospital stay.

Volunteer tutors and young patients alike have shared how much they enjoy the space, now transformed into a bright, cheerful environment that sparks joy and makes learning something to look forward to every day.
